Dr. Nina Kayce provides comprehensive psychological consultations and evaluations for children, teens, and young adults throughout Maryland — and will never push your family into testing you don't need.
Dr. Nina Kayce is a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive experience providing assessment and treatment services for children, teens, and young adults in hospital, community, and college settings. Throughout her career, she has worked collaboratively with pediatricians, schools, and other healthcare providers to support diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, accommodations, and educational interventions.
Dr. Kayce believes that every individual possesses a unique combination of strengths and challenges, and that accurate diagnosis is the foundation for meaningful support and growth. She is highly trained in a wide range of psychological assessment tools and develops individualized evaluation batteries tailored to each individual's specific needs and goals. Her comprehensive evaluations provide clear, actionable recommendations regarding diagnoses, treatment planning, academic accommodations, special education services, standardized testing accommodations, and future planning.
She personally conducts every evaluation from start to finish and works closely with families to ensure that services are thoughtful, individualized, and relevant. Known for her direct yet reassuring style, Dr. Kayce explains findings in clear, easy-to-understand language and provides practical guidance that helps families confidently move forward.
Dr. Kayce earned her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Maryland and her M.S. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland. During her doctoral training, she specialized in child clinical psychology, completing advanced training in psychotherapy and psychological assessment in both hospital and community settings. She also received specialized training in working with children with complex medical conditions, including diabetes, feeding disorders, and genetic conditions. Following completion of her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, she joined the faculty as a psychologist, providing psychotherapy, conducting evaluations, supervising trainees, and facilitating social skills groups for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
In addition to her work with children and teens, Dr. Kayce has extensive experience supporting college-age students and young adults. Through her work with disability support services in higher education, she assisted students with ADHD, learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and physical health conditions. This experience provides her with a strong understanding of the transition to college, available academic supports and accommodations, and the challenges often faced by young adults as they navigate increasing independence.
Her approach is simple: provide clear answers, practical recommendations, and a personalized plan that families can understand and put into action.
Dr. Kayce will never recommend testing that isn't necessary, and she's just as quick to point families toward a simpler path when one exists.

Evaluations can help identify strengths, clarify diagnoses, guide treatment planning, and inform educational recommendations and accommodations. Schools, colleges, disability support offices, and standardized testing organizations often require current evaluations when students request accommodations such as extended time or other testing supports. Some private schools may also require evaluations as part of the admissions process.
Depending on the referral question, the assessment may include measures of intellectual functioning, academic achievement, attention, memory, language, executive functioning, fine motor skills, and emotional-behavioral functioning. Parents, teachers, and, when appropriate, the individual being evaluated may also be asked to complete rating scales to provide additional information.
